Tips and Tricks

Whether you’re looking for ways to make this recipe even easier or simply want to enhance the flavor even more, take a look at a few of our favorite tips and tricks below!

  • Use Fresh Fruit. For the strongest flavor and most vibrant color, use the ripest, freshest fruit you can find.
  • Chop Evenly. For easy eating and better visual appeal, chop your fruit into pieces that are roughly the same size.
  • Include Herbs. We include fresh mint to provide a refreshing contrast to the sweetness of the dish, but you could also include basil, lemongrass, or lavender for a slightly different taste.
  • Switch Up the Sweetener. Honey is used to sweeten the dressing for this easy fruit salad recipe, but you could also include maple syrup, granulated sugar, brown sugar, or Stevia to suit your preferences and needs.
  • Add a Topping. Feel free to add a dollop of whipped cream, Greek yogurt, Cool Whip, or even marshmallows for a creamy texture and an even sweeter flavor!
  • Create Crunch. If you want a little contrast to the soft texture of the fruit, mix in chopped nuts like almonds, walnuts, or pecans.

Easy Fruit Salad Common Questions

How do I prevent my fruit from turning brown?

For the best results, eat your fresh fruit salad right away. However, if you plan on making it ahead of time, be sure to keep it covered in an airtight container, and add an extra splash of lemon juice to prevent the fruit from oxidizing.

Can I use frozen fruit?

We do not recommend using frozen fruit for this recipe, because it’s likely to become watery and soggy once thawed.

How long does this easy fruit salad last?

If you want to make this recipe in advance, it can be transferred to an airtight container and stored in the fridge for up to 3-4 days depending on the freshness of your fruit. Just be sure to give it a good toss before you serve to redistribute the dressing!
