What Are Frozen Yogurt Fruit Cups?

Frozen yogurt fruit cups are exactly as they sound! A favorite among our kids, they come in many variations. However, they nearly always consist of Greek yogurt and some kind of fruit. For our fruit cups, we took the recipe one step further and added a granola-inspired almond meal base.

As a result, they’re perfectly sweet, a little crunchy, and super filling. They’re the best handheld treat healthy enough for breakfast yet sweet and decadent enough for dessert.

What You’ll Need

We kept the ingredient list for these fruit cups minimal so hopefully, you won’t even have to run to the store! Here’s everything you’ll need:

  • Almond Meal – Also known as almond flour, this can be found in the baking section of most grocery stores. Or, you can easily create your own by pulsing raw almonds in a high-speed blender or food processor.
  • Raw Coconut Sugar – A natural plant-based sweetener, coconut sugar helps create a sugary taste but does not result in extreme blood sugar spikes like regular granulated sugar would.
  • Coconut Oil – A good source of healthy fats, this helps hold the almond meal base together.
  • Greek Yogurt – Slightly tart and tangy, Greek yogurt adds plenty of protein and probiotics for a satisfying fruit cup.
  • Honey – This offsets the yogurt and makes this recipe completely irresistible.
  • Fresh Fruit – We used raspberries and blueberries to complement the tart tanginess of the yogurt.

How to Make Yogurt Fruit Cups

Similar to a no-bake recipe, all you have to do for these fruit cups is combine the ingredients, layer, freeze, and enjoy. Take a look at the instructions below to see how it’s done!

  1. Line a muffin tin with silicone liners.
  2. Combine the almond meal, coconut sugar, and oil.
  3. Spoon a small amount of the mixture into each cup, and smooth it out with the back of a spoon.
  4. In a second bowl, mix together the yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract.
  5. Spoon two tablespoons of the yogurt into each muffin cup completely covering the crust.
  6. Top with fresh fruit.
  7. Freeze for 2 hours or until the cups are set.
  8. Enjoy right away!

Variations

Feel free to experiment to make these fruit cups your own. For ideas, take a look at some of our favorite mix-ins and toppings below!

Fruit – Swap out the raspberries and blueberries with strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, or whatever fruit your prefer.

Nuts – Mix chopped nuts into the yogurt, or sprinkle them on top for added fats and a bit of extra crunch.

Chocolate – Satisfy your cravings by mixing chocolate chips into the yogurt or adding a drizzle of chocolate sauce on top of your fruit cups.

Coconut Flakes – Enhance the fruity flavor and improve the texture with unsweetened shredded coconut flakes.
