What Is Bone Broth Hot Chocolate?

Bone broth hot chocolate is exactly what it sounds like – hot chocolate made with nutrient-dense bone broth! It features all the traditional hot chocolate ingredients and comes together in minutes on the stove.

However, it’s loaded with nutrients to keep you feeling your best all winter long.

Is Bone Broth Good for You?

Yes! Bone broth is made by simmering bones and connective tissues of animals long and slow to create a broth.

As a result, it’s full of nutrients and health benefits, and consuming bone broth can:

  • Improve Digestion
  • Fight Inflammation
  • Improve Sleep and Brain Function

Better-for-You Hot Chocolate Ingredients

  • Beef Bone Broth – Use a high-quality storebought bone broth, or make beef bone broth at home
  • Unsweetened Chocolate – We recommend using dark or semi-sweet baking chocolate.
  • Milk – Whole milk will yield the richest taste and creamiest texture, but any milk you like best will taste great!
  • Sugar – We use granulated sugar, but any sweetener or sugar substitute you like best such as honey or maple syrup can be used.
  • Coffee – Technically optional, this helps enhance the rich chocolate flavor. Use decaf coffee to keep this recipe caffeine-free!
  • Cacao Powder – NOT cocoa powder! Cacao powder is made from raw cacao beans and is full of health benefits for a drink you can feel good about!
  • Flavor Enhancers – Pure vanilla extract and just a pinch of salt help enhance the flavor of the rest of the ingredients.
  • Cinnamon  – We like to add a dash of ground cinnamon or cinnamon sticks for a warm flavor, but it’s optional!

  2. Add the bone broth. Stir in the bone broth, and heat for an additional few minutes until warmed through.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  4. Serve. Pour your bone broth hot cocoa into mugs, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy warm!

    1. Yes! You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Just be sure to give the drink a good stir to redistribute the ingredients.
