Philly Cheesesteak Tacos

Fold warm, cheesy, seasoned beef into tortillas for a taco-based take on a classic Philly cheesesteak.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb shaved steak ribeye or sirloin
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 2 bell peppers thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • tsp dried oregano
  • cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish
  • Warm tortillas (flour or corn, for serving)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Add the shaved steak, season with salt, pepper, 1 teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon paprika, and 1 teaspoon oregano.

    *Note -- measurements for the seasonings in the ingredient list are for the entire recipe. Follow the written instructions in this step for precise measurements for the steak -- remaining seasonings will be used in a later step.
  • Sear for 2–3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add onion and bell peppers. Cook for 4–5 minutes until softened and slightly golden.

  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • Return the cooked steak to the skillet.
  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce and the remaining onion powder, paprika, and oregano.

  • Toss everything together so the steak and veggies are evenly coated in the savory juices.
  • Sprinkle the shredded provolone or mozzarella evenly over the top.

  • Cover the skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  • Spoon the cheesy steak mixture into warm tortillas.
