What is confit

Confit is a cooking term that indicates both how something is cooked as well as that it is a method of preservation. Basically, confit means a food item — fruit, meat, condiments, etc — is cooked in grease, oil, or syrup at lower temperatures than you would use for frying, and over a long period of time.

In this case, we’re making garlic confit similar to our spicy garlic confit but a little tamer and unbelievably dimple thanks to the slow cooker!. So we’re both preserving the garlic and cooking it to a beautiful, tender texture to use how you see fit!

Why we love Slow Cooker Spicy Garlic Confit

We really love this recipe because it’s a great way of keeping garlic well-preserved to use for a long time! Plus, we’ve added some spice and sweetness to make this garlic really delicious when you do end up using it.

After it’s slow-cooked and preserved, you can use this to make super simple recipes like garlic toast. Do this by simply spreading the now-tender garlic confit on your toast. It’s tasty, healthy, and so so great!

What equipment do you need for Slow Cooker Spicy Garlic Confit

To make this recipe, all you really need is a slow cooker! Slow cookers use moist heat to cook food over a long period of time — in this case, several hours. They’re perfect for making garlic confit because we don’t want to deep fry the garlic at all, so we can regulate the temperature.

  1. The recipe calls for olive oil but the instructions do not specify when it should be added. Can you clarify that part of the process?
