Why Sheet Pan Dinners Are a Game Changer

We’re not exaggerating when we say sheet pan meals are one of the best things ever created. They’re right up there with one-pot dinners!

First of all, life is so much easier when you are able to pop everything onto a single pan and bake it in the oven. Second, let’s not forget the cleanup aspect (because who wants to clean a million dishes, right?).

Lastly, they’re an awesome way to throw together a healthy meal and have it on the table in less than 30 minutes. Are you sold yet?

Just in case you need any more convincing, this sheet pan salmon and veggies recipe is:

  • Made with just ten simple ingredients
  • Full of protein, vitamins, nutrients, and fiber
  • Loaded with flavor
  • Customizable to fit your flavor preferences and dietary needs.

What to Include in Sheet Pan Salmon and Veggies

Simple is the name of the game around here, but that doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice flavor! You’ll be surprised how tasty sheet pan salmon will be with just a handful of ingredients.

Here’s everything you need:

  • Salmon – We love using center-cut salmon because it cooks evenly and stays juicy from end to end. Choosing a piece without bones ensures the fillets cook smoothly and makes serving effortless.
  • Chili Powder – This adds a warm, earthy flavor that complements the richness of the salmon. The seasoning also helps create a gorgeous crust as the fish roasts.
  • Smoked Paprika – This spice brings gentle smokiness that enhances the salmon without overpowering it. It adds deep color and pairs beautifully with the roasted veggies.
  • Garlic Powder – We love using this ingredient because it gives a consistent garlic flavor without burning in the high heat of the oven. It blends evenly into the spice mix for perfect coverage.
  • Sea Salt – This makes every ingredient taste more vibrant and balanced.
  • Ground Black Pepper – Pepper adds subtle heat and aroma without overwhelming the other spices. Freshly ground pepper gives the dish a more pronounced flavor.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Olive oil coats the salmon and vegetables so they roast instead of steaming. It also helps the spices adhere and encourages crisp, caramelized edges.
  • Baby Yellow Potatoes – These potatoes roast beautifully and become tender with a golden exterior. Cutting larger potatoes into even pieces ensures they cook at the same pace as the salmon and veggies.
  • Fresh Green Beans – These add crunch and freshness that balance the richness of the salmon. Rinsing and drying them well helps them blister and caramelize instead of turning soft.
  • Red Onions – Onion wedges add sweet, savory flavor that deepens as they roast. They also bring color and a mellow bite that complements the seasoned salmon.
  • Lemons – These add bright acidity that brightens up the entire dish!

Health Benefits of Salmon

Salmon is one of the most nutrient-dense fish available! We try to eat it at least once a week with recipes like honey garlic salmon, salmon burgers, parmesan crusted salmon, and baked feta salmon

Not only is it a good source of high-quality protein and omega fatty acids, but salmon is also rich in health benefits. For example, it’s a good source of B vitamins and is rich in potassium and selenium. As a result, including salmon in a healthy diet can help:

  • Reduce the risk of heart disease
  • Prevent inflammation
  • Protect brain health
  • Improve mental health
  • Maintain healthy vision
  • Support bone health

Possible Variations

We kept this sheet pan salmon and veggies recipe simple so you can easily adjust it to suit your preferences! For starters, feel free to use less of the seasoning mix if you don’t want as strong a flavor.

Or, include different herbs and spices to switch up the flavor profile. You can even add a sauce!

Or, you might be wondering what vegetables go well with salmon. Feel free to mix and match whatever you have on hand and like best.

Some great options include potatoes, green beans, broccoli, tomatoes, onions, and peas. However, for the best results, we recommend using veggies with similar cook times to prevent over or undercooking any of the ingredients.

Too much spice. Flavor was very good, but the texture of the layer of spice wasn’t pleasant. I have loved most everything Food Dolls, but I have begun to wonder if they are guessing how much they use of each ingredient after they create their videos? After I already sprinkled the spice mix on the salmon and veggies, I decided to watch the video. It’s not possible that they used 3 whole TBSP of chili powder in that video. Maybe 1/2 of all the spices, or possibly less. My 3 lb salmon has a legit spice crust and theirs is minimally sprinkled. Also, the video is doing things in a different order from the directions (oil before spice) and there are lemon slices placed on the salmon before baking, which aren’t suggested in the ingredients but for garnish. 3 lbs of salmon isn’t cheap, so I kindly ask the Food Dolls to actually make from their written recipe before just posting in good faith. This is my first run in with a disappointing outcome for 1/5 recipes tried. 3/5 have been excellent, but you must watch the video aaand read the written recipe to figure out what is really needed and the proper steps. This tired new mom, trying to eat anything but prepackaged meals, can’t do both. We will make it again due to ease, but with only 1/2 of the spice measurements total.

    1. Hi Madison- Thank you so much for giving us feedback. This feedback really helps ensure that our recipes are easy to understand and follow. We will make note of your suggestions! As for the amount of seasoning -this was in fact the amount of seasoning we used, we do not guess after we have made the recipe. Half of the spice mixture went over the vegetables while the other half was for the salmon. We are truly sorry you were disappointed with the outcome, and we hope you can give us another try!
